What RPM to shift at with new cam???
I've also got Manley springs and hardened pushrods...and adouble roller chain and slp oil pump.(the MTI Package)
I just want to know how high I will be able to wrap the engine???? what can it all handle safely???
I will be soon buying an RMP guage too...any suggestions....
wouldnt I want to shift where the HP at shift point is the same in the next gear when it takes over....
meaning even if peak is at 5000 rpm(375hp).... If I shift at 6000(350hp) and the rpm change puts me below that amount(like around 3500 rpm)(300hp)....but if I take it up to 7000(325hp) and the shift takes the rpm down to the same HP(like at 4500 rpm)(325hp).....wouldnt that make better sense....
to keep the MAx HP???
I just want to know How High is still safe before valve float...and possible other engine disasters.... so when I find out the real #'s I can stay in a higher HP range all the time so the Highest RPM HP is Closer to the Lowest Rpm HP at the shift...
get it???
Now take into considerations like valve float and the bottom end, you may want to shift at peak power just to stay a little lower in the RPM range.
