Default looking for a great cam...come help me out.

sorry to start another cam discussion. im trying to find a perfect combination so you can understand my concern. at first i was naieve and was the typical "oooo big cam" now im a bit more analytical of the actual specs. im looking to find a large cam, but not too big, that could scale the 400rwhp range. seems like the ms4 and vindicator are a bit more ideal for street because the powerbands are between 2300 and 2400 - 6800 and 7000rpm and becuase im not always at the track, this matters to me. i read a lot of posts and people always ask "what the biggest cam i can fit" or "whats teh best cam" not realizing how vague a question that is. on that note, ill say what i would like, and anyone can criticize me. i find that to be the best way.

right now my mods are as follows...

1)k&n cold air intake
2) slp 85mm mass air flow
3)hooker headers, y pipe, and slp loudmouth exhaust
4) b&m shift kit
5) motive 373 gear set
6) pt440 on the way...

i know i know shes still almost bone stock and I HATE IT haha.

now as for what i want out of the car (if all sounds out of reach, just be honest and tell me)...

~11's all day.
~400rwhp range.
~great powerband, so none of this "it pulls like a train over 5000rpm" i personally feel thats a little high for what i want to get accomplish.
~great street car.

i just want a cam that will pull hard all the way through the top. not just starting at 5000rpm. i know the powerbands of the ms4 and vindicator but those are more for a lil more than midrange to top end power i feel. i would like the cam to produce more power a little lower and sacrifice a little hp up top. shes gotta be a cam only queen.

im just trying to get out a few ideas of whats running through my mind. i would appreciate it if anyone could share there 2 cents. thanks guys.

First off, 11s all day won't require 400 rwhp with an automatic. In fact, 400 rwhp is quite difficult to achieve cam only with an automatic. Your goal of 11s is much more realistic.

The Vindicator and MS4 are big cams, definitely mid to top end cams and require a very good tune to be enjoyable for a daily driver. You probably want to keep your duration closer to the lower 230s and keep your overlap at .050" between 10-15 degrees. While this will still require a good tune, it's within the window before your gains begin to diminish quickly.

+1

...Btw anything Pat G says = Gold

I would also suggest that the cam remain in the 230s range I have seen a lot of Automatics with those type of cams run fast times. You will also want to invest in some gears and a stall though. Naturally with these mods you won't see as much HP on the dyno (360-380) but if you ever do decide to get some heads you will eclipse that 400rwhp mark for sure.
