Question School me on steam vents

I'm wondering what requirements the steam vents must have. I have a 5.3L with the two back vents blocked off and the front passenger side coupled with the driver side. What does that hose require going into the radiator? Just flowing water to evacuate the steam? I also noticed in a few pictures prior to 2000 or so, LSx motors used to have all 4 steam vents connected via a single pipe and I'm not sure which year GM blocked off the back 2, but is there any advantage worthwhile putting this back on for? I lost the gaskets under the block off plates so perhaps instead of getting the gaskets I could just get the whole line assembly.

So, question 1) where is the best place to put the end of the steam vent hose and why (since I'm starting with a blank radiator)

and question 2) is there any bennefit to running a 4 vent line instead of just the front 2?

GM went to the two vent style with the LS6 intake because it sits closer to the valley cover. The 4 tube style will probably get all the steam out of the engine a little easier, but either way will work. Hook to the radiator as high as you can and you won't have any problem with either style. You can also drill and tap the flat spot on the top of the water pump and connect the tube there.
