Default 383 vs 402 stroker

hey,
not sure what to do was debating between 383 and 402 rotating assemblies was wondering if a 402 kit requires a cast block cause i don't want to fork out the money for a different block trying to keep the aluminum block. also is there going to be much in power difference between the two. a 224 duration cam is probably as big as i will go for tuning reasons and streetablity. any info would be helpful thanks guys.

The 402 is an LS2 aluminum block with 4" bore, 4" stroke but i would probably go bigger than a 224 cam with either motor

So you have an ls1 and your trying to build a stroker?

If so a 4" stroke would give you the 383 with a 3.905 bore.
or if you increase the stroke or the bore as much as possible you can come up with some different combo's but I dont think thats what your talking about.

The 402, is a 4.0 bore with a 4.0 stroke. (And really ideal is to clean it up .005 and its really a 403) Your talking about two different animals there. Its an LS2 aluminum block or an LQ9 block iron block.

UNLESS your having your block re-sleeved then its a whole new ball game.

well just looked at some blocks and found ls2 for reasonable price so 402 isn't out of the picture yet (cast 750$) (aluminum 1000$) would buying new sleeves and the machining cost as much as a new block. how hard is it to convert from ls1 to ls2 or are the computers and electronics all interchangable? and what are the pros and cons of aluminum vs cast obviously weight but what else

the cost of sleeving will probably double the cost of the aluminum block... if you don't want to fork out an extra $300 for an aluminum block over an iron block, then i really don't think you want to mess with a sleeved block.
