Default cam and valve train advise

Hi guys,

I need some advise/results from guys who have had this cam fitted. The cam is fitted to a 5.7 LS1 engine.
Its a comp cam 220/220/112 .581.581 with Patriot cnc 243 heads with 64cc. I think the part number is pat243. I also fitted comp pushrods 7.425 and 1.7 yella terra ultra light rockers. The rockers have 1 full turn and have been torque to 22pnds.

Originally I had 7.40 comp pushrods with the stock rockers and had a large amount of valve train noise. So I had them changed to 7.425 and chucked in the yella terra's as well hoping to make things a bit quieter.

Does anyone else have this cam? Is your valve train noisy with it?
Are the pushrods the right length? What is the correct pre-load on a stock ls1 lifter? There are a few threads and the information on what the pre load varies a bit between them.

Any input would be appreciated.

Cheers

JB

Two things you need to know, is the base circle of the cam the same as stock cam and do you have the Z06 valves in those heads or non-Z06 valves, from what I understand the Z06 valve is longer ( requires shorter pushrod unless you use Z06 cam then you are fine at 7.400 ) You will have to contact comp cams about the base circle of the cam, then find out about your vavle length and go from there.

The heads were assembled prior to me receiving them from speed inc. The are the Pat243 I think with ferra valves. What size they are I have no idea. The spings are Patriot duals rated to .650.

I was hoping that someone here would have a similar combo and could let me to know to see what they have done. Or even with the same heads and different comp cam.

First, the Yella Terra instructions stink. When you install them, you must first check the wipe pattern to ensure they are set up correctly. Any shims required will alter the pushrod length, so you need an adjustable pushrod. They should be quiet. Here is how I set mine up on the workbench, but you can do the same thing on the car. Link

Once the wipe is correct, you measure for pushrod length. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts.
