Default How do you know how big a stroker kit is "best"??

I've got a 2000 LS1 and when the time comes for a rebuilt, i will be stroking the motor and prolly getting matching h/c sorta stuff. Question is, how big is "best" i want the car to drive on the street doesn't need to be daily, just street worthy. At what point do you have to go to an LS2 with a stroker? Past 39Xcid? Just how do you know if you want a 346, 383, 406, 427, 454...etc?

Easy answer is budget. a 347 is like $3200 vs a 454 which is $6600

i was looking at Eagle and there stroker kits were the same price till you hit 454, then it went up. Whats the diferences between the cubes....torque v.s hp, some better for a toquey motor, some better for high rev/hp? If that makes any sense, lol.

if you go 346,347 or 383 you can still use your same ls1 block after that you have to get a diff block. like the 364 which is the ls2 block you can make it into a 402 with a 4" crank the truck 6.0 with 4" crank will be a 408 and so on. It all depends on how much money you have or want to spend on your car, more money more power. the way it works with the cubic inches is the more cubes you have the more hp & tq you can get out of it. "NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT" for the higher reving all depends on how you do your setup.

Bore size is different. The rotating assemblies are one thing, but you need the right bore size to make the number you're looking for, and certain blocks can only go up to a certain bore. You can't make a 427 or 454 out of an LS1 or LS2 unless you get the block sleeved, which is decent $$$$ or buy an LS7 or LSX block, which raises your cost.

Stock LS1 block, you're pushing 383 max, LS2 around 402 max, LQ4/LQ9 (truck block) 408 max. L92 block 416/427 max, LS7 not 100% sure, 427 might be about it safely, LSX block or a sleeved block can go 454+.

The parts you choose are going to determine the RPM range for antyhing you're going to use the car for. More displacement will give you more torque, Bore size is more for HP.
