Proper coolent flush
Proper coolent flush I was wondering. What is the correct way to flush a coolent system? I noticed that my dex cool started to sluge up and i want to really clean it out. Is there like a cleaning agent that is safe for LS motors that i can put in that will break down all the sluge? Should i just run water thru the system? Sorry for the ignorent question. I just usually drain and fill.
I use Zerex Fast Flush. Can be had for $5 at Napa. Drain the radiator and add the flush. Top off with water and let engine run for 20 minutes. Drain again. Fill with water. Let run for another 20 minutes. Drain again. I normally repeat this process a few more times until when I drain the radiator I get just clear water. Make sure you drain the system each time right after you cut the car off to make sure the thermostat remains open. After I am done flushing I add 2 gallons of dexcool. Then let run and top off with water. Making sure the system bleeds all the air off properly.
