solid roller 408 non adjustable valvetrain ?
I am wondering if anyone else has done this I have built 3 ls1 based engines so far with solid rollers all iron blocks 2 408's and 1 larger. I have used a couple different rockers including stock ones. I just varied the pushrod length to get the geometry right and used a series of billet shims I made for the rocker stands to get my cold lash correct then ran the engine and checked the hot lash to make sure it was close to the recomended setting. All 3 have over 2000 miles on the street and numerous drag passes. The largest cam is a custom 262/270 with .655/.660 I have checked several times and all have kept adjustments and lash has not changed more than maybe 2 thou. I do not hear of others doing this. I know many Ford dirt track racers and others have done this in fact Crane actually makes a shim kit for them to get the correct lash on non adjustable ford rockers as well as others ? I have had great luck with this and just wonder why i do not hear more about it. My car runs 9.40's with this setup and i drive it almost every nice day.
PS all have been very quiet running too

Wow, you've got me interested. I have a set of non adjustable yella terras that I was going to sell to buy a set of adjustable T&Ds. In the process of doing this what did you do first? I'm guessing you set up the wipe pattern correctly with the pushrods. Then, shimmed the springs to get the right valve lash. I've never heard of anyone doing this. How high are you revving your car?
Actually I lost track of this thead, I am running 185 seat pressure and 500 open with this setup turning 7200 and occasionally 7500. No problrems YET ? car has been 9.60's
