I reccomend staying at 4.000 stroke for most folks.

I think I would budget around $7500 for the shortblock.

You can get your heads redone to to accomodate the increase in bore.

I had a LS6 head'd 422ci ironblock and dynoed 472rwhp/505rwtq at Speed Inc. I ran 1.75 headers.

I have to be able to honestly say it's a "427". Why do you suggest a 422? It's close but I have some other appearance ideas related to a 427 moniker. Reworking my current heads is a good idea and will hopefully save some money. They're currently milled to 10.8:1 Should be okay right?

I also want to reuse my headers, LS6 intake manifold, ported oil pump, ported TB, valve covers and fuel system (with bigger injectors) which should be no problem.

Does ARE use the Darton sleeves?

I recently took my car to Lamar Walden Automotive {770-449-0315} in Doraville, GA. They performed some VERY necessary surgery on my car w/tuning. I strongly recommend them.

They are currently building a C5-R aluminum 6.0L 427 for someone wanting a late model ZL-1 style camaro. I'm sure it ain't cheap at all but maybe worth a phone call.

Ask for Rob and tell him I sent you. You MUST see his business for yourself if you're looking for MORE power.

PRO STOCK JOHN:

Kindly explain why you don't recommend using a 4.125 crank and sticking to a max of a 4.00 crank in a 427 application, like the one MTI is currently build me (4.060 with a 4.125 crank).

Thanks,

MTI 427 Roadster

SLP does not make 1 7/8 they are 1 3/4. We are going to test some custom 2" on our 427.

The more stroke you run the more the car will have monster torque.

I think for a street car that will rarely see the track I would try to keep the stroke down.

I was making 500 ft lbs of torque by 4200 rpms, ever seen someone spin 28" slicks for a block. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I'm thinking of a 427 decal in similar font and color to the old 67-69 BBC Corvette hood emblem (see below). These would go on either side of my raised SS intake. Is this something you would make/sell? Please drop me an email or PM if its something you'd be interested in.

Thanks,

Joe

JIMMY Z....
You can rip on any one of the shops(three or four) you have spent money at all you want...
But don't think for a min. I'll let you bash me...
If you don't have confidence in my work or knowledge, then take my cell phone number out of your speed dial.
I've kept my mouth shut , but i got to tell you i wouldn't be so proud of those numbers and Lamar, considering i can make that with a slip and slide cam and no tuning thru CATS no less...
Anyways my point is you can recomend anyone you want, you can bash anyone that you think you have a beef with... but i never treated you with anything but professionalism and general friendship. I don't appreciate public comments bashing GMMG or my work, funny how i'm your best friend when you need something....
....glad i have caller I.D.
Best of luck with your lead sled...
