Default Spring swap help

If a valve slipped with air on it, is there any way to get it back up to finish the spring swap? the old spring is out, but now there is a hissing sound

How far did it slip? If its just a tad, spin the valve 90 degrees anfd pull it up. That should get some of the oil off the valvestem to have some friction to hold it up. If that doesnt work, bring that cylinder to top dead center and it will hold that valve up and limit the valve travel ti around a quarter inch. I dont see how a valve could slip if you have the cylinder pressurized? Get 50-60 psi on it, and it wont move. THe TDC method is alot easier to swap springs by the way. Air is still too risky.

Ditto the above! When you use the TDC method, there is a fail safe if you don't tap the retainers to break them loose as some people do. Instead, just compress the spring until the valve hits the piston and pops the keepers loose. If you have compressed the spring nearly all the way and the keepers don't pop loose, you know you F*cked up and need to go back and get the piston at TDC.

TDC method works great, air is a hassle.

TDC = Top Dead Center. What we mean by that is bring the piston up to the top of the cylinder your working on so the valve cant drop into the cylinder. It also makes getting the keepers off easy. It's a little tricky to know when the piston is up all the way, but the method works great and avoids the use of compressed air.

Pure Evil, if the valve dropped into the head and has fallen into the cylinder, then it's time to pull the head. Maybe a magnet could grab it.

Shoot, I always use the compressed air trick and can still whack the valvespring compressor to pop the keepers off. With 40 psi air pressure, you have 100+ pounds of pressure pressing up on the valve...tough to make it fall into the motor. If the valve has fallen partially into the motor, dont turn it over, or you could bend it.
