Default Delete PVC System..............

Did a search & it's been awhile since this has been hashed, so............

Thoughts on deleting the entire PVC system............and then put a breather on the rear drivers side hose and also in oil fill valve cover and putting caps on the passenger rear and front vents and throttle body.

Should this prevent any oil misting and eliminate the need for an oil catch can?

I deleted my PCV system and havent had any problems. There is no oil in the intake now, and there isn't any film on the motor like some say they get. I have a breather on the oil fill cap and on the rear drivers side.

I also heard somewhere that you need airflow thru the crankcase to remove contaminents, but if remove the entire system, what contaminents would they be referring too?

Its crankcase ventilation. If you just cap everything off, then the pressure is going to relieve itself somewhere. That place would be through your rings.

Why dont you just switch to the ls6 pcv system, the valley cover. It cleans it up and looks better

+1...exact setup I daily drove for years before tearing the car apart, and had no oil residue in the intake. No problems whatsoever and it reall keeps the engine bay simplified instead of just adding catch cans and the like.

Cap all the vacuum inlets and run breathers... It works fine.

Well it also removes water vapors from your crank case which would condensate every time you turned it off. Having a vacuum in your crankcase (behind pistons) will also help the rings seal better.

Here's a VERY good post on what your PCV system does.

I prefer the breather method myself.

I have a breather on both valve covers and i have never had a problem. The oil needs to be changed a little sooner, from some water that will condense in the motor after it cools down, but have never had a problem otherwise. I would run a catch can with a stock motor but my cam hardly pulls any vacuum at idle.

I wouldnt be worried about idle vapors, or WOT vapors i would be worried about cruising vapors which is wear your car spends most of its time and is the leanest. I ran a 2001 Corvette PCV valve in the drive side valve cover, ran that to the catch can, catch can to the back fo my carburetor vacuum port, then i ran a 3/8" line from one nipple to the other on the passenger side and tee'd in a breather filter. No oil in my catch can yet but I havent hardly driven it either. I thought about not running a PCV system since i was running a carb setup but decided it was too important not to have. Here's a pic of my setup
