Default 327 or 350?

I was just wondering the new 5.3L chevrolet small blocks out in just about all truck's and suv's. What is the technical name for the block, anyone give me true perofrmance bias of both engine's. What's the advantages of a 327, i have a friend who want's to put a 350 in his 3rd gen but i've seen people put 327s in them. How hard would it be to just change the intake out and put say a 4barrel carb on a 327 would it still be competitive if everything else is left the same and cheap

that havent made a 327 for decades. the 5.3s make as much or more power then the LT1s. [years/models of 5.3 depends on power]

I believe the 5.3 was called the LM7 from '98-'04. It has the same architecture as the LS1 with the same stroke, smaller bore. Other than the fact that it has a smaller displacement, the only real drawbacks are that it's an iron block and it has dished pistons for a lower CR. Slap on milled heads, cam, & intake and it will be a real performer.

i thought they were 327 sorry. So the 325 is an iron block ls style engine, how big can you make them without having to worry about cracking the block or any other issues. If i could get ahold of one say i wanted to do my own conversion how hard would it be to make it carbration

There was a thread about a sponsor using these blocks & making good power on a budget. I will see if I can find it for you.

Here it is. Don't know if this helps you or if I can even get the link to work. If not, it's in the Hybrids section "5.3 long block for $300 ........", sponsor is www.BRPHotRods.com

Sorry, can't get the link to the thread to post. Maybe someone else can.
