Default replacing rear cover

hey guys, while i was bolting my oil pan back up i snapped one of the 2 long bolts all the way in the back. i never had the oil pan off i only dropped it a couple inches to fish something out I searched threads here and found one about the same bolt, and read that the bolt actually goes into the rear cover not the block. my question is can the rear cover be replaced without completly removing the oil pan and just dropping the trans? any help would be appreciated, thanks

Yes you can just replace the cover and make sure you get the gasket and rear main seal also.
