Well i took your guys advise and got me some mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and an AC-Delco tall oil filter. Before I start on this oil change how much oil does it normally take to fill the ls1 up to the full mark. My motor's got over 100,000 miles on it and when i drained the oil out it looked really clean. However the dealership I got it from said they never changed it. So apparently the previous owner took good care of it. And I want to do the same so a number would be good.

 

i use 6 quarts of M1 10w30

 

technically... 5.5 qts in the ls1 engine

 

If you use the pf58 or 59 It will take 6 quarts.
