Default Big Cam, Cold Start
Its starting to get cold up in Colorado, and I was wondering if my .651 lift cam would brake a valve spring if it was too cold out side?
Or should i just let it sit over the winter and not turn it on at all?

What kind of springs are you running?

As long as you warm up the oil enough before you drive it, you should be fine

Those are good springs, i don't see why you would have a problem, just make sure its good and warm

You said your cam was .651 lift was wondering if patrick g spec'd it for you like mine. I think you will be fine if you just let the car warm up. Even if you do break a spring it shouldnt be a catostrophic failure. I broke a dual spring in my 01 z06 and drove it 15 miles to the shop with just the inner spring holding up.

ohh i see, No i had a clint@A.I.R in colroado spec it for me, but thanks for the info, This is my first huge cam and im jus tryin to look out for my investment.. lol alot of time and money into that cam swap I guess ill start it maybe once a week when it starts to snow.. last year it was -10 to -20

Not idling, but yes, it could snap a valvespring in a heartbeat if he drives it before oil temp is above about 50 or 60
