To answer your question, I bought the Dyno2000 program several years ago. It can be very hepful to compare cams and head flows. I can't comment on how accurate the predicted horse power is, because I never had my heads flowed. But if you just use it as a comparison between one cam to another it can be a useful tool. You should definitely pick up a program before you start buying too many parts.
