Default Once again-Another Cam Question

So I have a lifter starting to make noise and well im just kinda bored with my car-01 ws6 a4. So im getting a set of ls6 heads (for free) WOOT! and well i'm just gonna pull my whole engine at the end of this month or early october and build it up in my garage. So i need opinions on a cam. Ive done research and after the tsp cam comparison thread I like the look of the 228r but I dont know. I want to keep my stall no bigger than a 3600-3800. I also want to make around 420ish to the wheels but being through an auto as long as its close ill be happy. It wont be daily driven seeing ill be at school maybe once or twice a week. Thanks in advanced-Tim

420 threw a stall auto with a 228r aint gonna happen.
36-388 stall is more mid/high 230 durration range.
how high do you want to spin?

if you want the 228r i think a lower 3000 stall should pair up nice. i could be wrong thoe, try searching for other guys with 228rs and see what size stall they have

Once again all you have to do is search. Its not that difficult.

The best cam is a custom cam specd for your mods and goals. With that size of stall dont look for alot of power unless you lock the converter which is a little rough on the lock up clutch. Also with that size verter you can get any size cam you want pretty much, you definitely wont have any type of surging.

You can definitely throw that cam in with the mods you currently have. Could you run a smaller converter? Yes. Could you run a larger converter? Yes. I like the converter you have currently. It will work fine with the 228R fine or you could even go larger if you wanted without hurting the driveability of the car too much.

The 228R will pick you up approximately 40-45 RWHP over the factory cam. Do you know how much power the car is making now? What exactly are you looking for out of the car as far as sound, driveability, etc.? Shoot me a PM with what you are wanting to do and we can pick a cam to meet your needs or spec you a custom camshaft. Either way it is the same price!
