Default what difference in heads and cams

Im new to the ls1's. Can someone explain to me about the differences in power between 5.3 heads, ls1 heads, ls6 heads, and 6.0 heads. I know a couple of people with ported ls6 heads but i see a lot of 5.3 heads on this site. Also can someone explain what the numbers on a cam mean. THANKS

2much, the info I gathered by looking on this and other sites, is 5.3l and ls1 heads make the same power, the 5.3l head is used for higher compression with minimal shaving for piston to valve clearance with larger cams, ls6 heads should make 5-7 more hp but more on a larger cube and larger lift cams, the 6.0l is used for blower cars, the chamber is big and it lowers compresion

with cams you have duration at 50 thousants lift, this means crank duration from the up side of the lobe at .050 to the down side of the lobe at .050, so from .050 to .050 you get for example 232 duration. lift is how far the valve will open, for ex .595 lift, usually you will have the intake listed first than the ex lobe, here is a great cam called the g5x2 232/240 .595/.610, {int duration/ex duration int lift/ ex lift} next week we will learn about lobe seperation, class dismissed

6.0 heads can also be milled to keep the compression stock or higher for a stock cube LS1. The 6.0 shares several design aspects with the LS6 head. The 6.0 have better mid lift flow in the .300-.450 range than the LS6 head does all things being equal. The LS6 head will flow better at higher lifts.
