Default Timing chain dilemma

I ordered the LS2 timing chain, but I didn't order the set. I had a friend tell me that I should have ordered the set because the gears have already wore to the old timing chain. Do I have to order a new set of timing gears or can I use my current ones? Where can I order just the gears if I HAVE to replace them? The car has 70,000 miles on it. Thanks in advance

It is a good idea to replace the gears as well as they do establish a pattern and tooth wear is one of the reasons they will tend to wrap the chain with age. If you can't get the gears only, you can always get the set and sell one chain. They sell very quickly and you will only lose a few bucks in the exchange.
