Default What cam?

Hello everyone. I have the stock 99 cam with full intake except aftermarket heads and maf. I also will have an x pipe in few weeks to compliment my B&B bullets. Looking for a cam that offers good street manors and acceptable gas mileage. I was thinking the 02 ZO6 cam. What RPM will that cam peak at? I want somthing that peaks around 6200-6300rpm.

Is there a cam a "step" or two above this option that still gives great gas mileage and has some lope? Or is that just not possible? I will tune immediately after install.

looked at their camshafts. Made my eyes spin!!! Sorry for my ignorance but i'd like someone with some knowledge to make some cam suggestions based on my needs and wants. Just point me in the right direction. So far what im getting is the 224's are the best overall. I dont want something that aggressive though. gas milage, and street manors mind you.

Guessing more than welcome.

Crane 224/232 .590/.600 113 (LSHS/HR5) that will peak around 6200k and make 400+ rwhp with your setup and drive like stock with a little thump and have power all over.

In 1999 GM put in crappy injectors, they flow only 420hp so i want to keep it around 390-400 to prevent them from overheating. Also whats the gas mileage compared to now? Thanks for the response!!!

so the 224's have that lope, streetability and decent gas milage? Lol it must be a pretty sick cam considering how many suggest it on this forum. Can someone just verbally adress the lope and gas millage compared to the 02 ZO6 cam?

I understand its power production is pretty good i just want some more confirmation on my other concerns.

lope is mostly determined by LSA, get a 114 and up and it wont really lope at all.
224 is a good starter cam if you dont want to do your research and decide what you really want. First decide what you need and what you have then the cam you need will pretty much present itself.

Where could i research this myself? Is there a website that goes into deep detail i could spend my next few hours studying? Or am i stuck with calling up performance company and hoping to get a good answer? I dont mind reading just tell me where and im there.

This is my last power mod and i wanted to get it right the first time. I was hoping someone could show me the ropes in the form of a website to read or lay it out a simple as they can. I'm going to google around and see what i can find until then.

THANK YOU KIND FOLK WHOM HAVE RESPONDED SO FAR!!! : D
much apreciation!

I would say if you want milage and still have nice gains in HP I would use the LS1 Hotcam, It's mild but I hear it's a good performer also. 218/227/ 525/525 on a 112 LSA

I am thinking if I do end up camming my vette then I will also buy the hotcam. I hate to change the drivability too much since I like to take it on trips. Another nice thing aout the hotcam is that you can use the LS6 springs. They are easy on the timing chain and rockers and will run forever. well almost

No problem, shop around on the web and you may be able to find it cheaper. Never hurts to check.
