Default Want a cam? VRX5????

I am looking into doing a cam setup for my 2003 Z06. Will the VRX5-- 236/238 .601/.605 113 LSA be to big? I will be running the stock heads with a 150 shot of N20 as well. I am looking to make 440+ RWHP cam only. Car is street driven, drag raced, and I do freeway rolls.

Thanks for the input.

Thats gonna be a bad bitch. I believe as long as the cam timing stays between 2-4* then P to V clearence dosent become an issue until you are above 240* duration. I would put in a quick call to Texas Speed or send a PM to Predator Z.

Should work well. P-t-V clearance isn't bad with it. You should have close to .080" on the intake for clearance.

And what would you say would be around the minimum clearence you would want, and not be on the edge, a safe limit.

.080"

You can do .060" but it's really playing with fire. I mean, if you break down an engine with around .060" of clearance, you'll see the butterfly kisses of where the valve hit the pistons a few times, but nothing that would really hurt the head.

The general rule of thumb is .100" for safety, but that's coming from people who do it for a living and can't afford to put every customer at the ragged edge. I think .080" is plenty safe, but you should always measure to make sure.

I run the vrx5 with a set of trickflows and the fast 90. in that form, it is soft below 3 grand. 3-7k, it pulls great. personally, id reccomend regearing down to 3.73's or 4.10's with the vrx5, especially on a cam-only car. even with all the bolt-ons and the complete h/c, the car is sluggish down low. if you plan to keep your stock gearing, id go down to a 230-236 duration cam like the vrx4.

That cam will work fine in a stock head application. No PTV issues. I talked to Ron at Vengeance and I am thinking about switching to that cam also for my H/C application and didnt want to flycut the pistons. Not sure if you will get 440rwhp cam only but it should be close at least. It will be nasty with the 150 hit.
