Default Maf Gto Question

Have a general question on MAF for a LS2 head cam intake TB injector car. I have a K&N on the car currently. I am wondering if I will need to replace the MAF. Someone told me I would have to wait to find out tell the car is on a Dyno and if the volts are maxed out at 5. Anyone know? Have experience from this type of set-up?

It can help, but it is not necessary. Your idle and throttle response are indicators. Also, look at your airflow mesurements using turning software.

Gotch, I talked to a rep at Granatelli he said the chevy MAF's are generally fine. But he also mentioned that you can get another 15rwhp with just adding it. Anyone know if there is any truth to that?

I call BS on that one. A stock GM 85mm MAF is fine, don't get stupid with the oil for the K&N, it will cause issues if the oil gets on the heating elements in the MAF. Leave the screen in and just have the VE tables tuned and then tune the MAF and you will be fine. If you could actually get 15hp from a Granatelli MAF everyone would be using one.

For all reasons stay away from a Granatelli MAF. It does not flow any more air and just leans you out to derive the "extra" HP.
You can get more flow from a 100MM MAF if you the rest of your intake is sized up to 4" The GTO is tough because of the 90* bend in front of the TB and somewhat limited options for the rest of the intake pieces.

The MAF is measuring frequency and looking to a table to measure air flow. You can diddle the table but the Gen 3 stock MAF design is not particularly free flowing and the old bare wire design has been replaced with the card style in LS3,7,9 etc.
