You can. Thats what I did. No idea how accurate the readings are now. The knock sensors are tuned for a particular location.

Its recommended to put them on the sides of the block. I'm not sure if they'll pick up detonation being located on the heads. I haven't seen any testing done in particular.

It is best to put them where they belong. I didn't put mine where they should have been, now I can't get my oil cooler adapter to fit. Food for thought.

You say that knock sensors have to be tuned for its location. Its still alright to take LS1 knock sensors and place them on the side of the block correct? Or is it necessary to get LS2 knock sensors, or is there no difference?

You can still use them. You have to get an extension for the wiring because they are not in the same place. I have never hear of them being tuned.

They can be "tuned" in the PCM by setting their sensitivities. Although there is really no science to it, as no one has any idea how to "tune" the knock sensors.

They're threaded, but you have to either rethread them, or tap the Gen IV block to their size.
