Default LS6 Oil Pump and Thermostat Question...

i have done some searching and i found alot on LS6 oil pumps ported and non ported! But they normally have some sort of forced induction or a huge cubic inch or cammed... I have a practically stock LS1 with an LS6 intake and full exhaust... My oil pump is startin to take a poop on me and i am lookin to get another one and figured i might as well get an LS6... good idea? what are the advantages with my engine...

My other question if for a thermostat... i want a 160 degree therm cuz its the smallest i have seen... but a friend told me if i get it i have to get my car tuned so my car will recognize it and run cooler? True.. or can i just kinda plug n play...?

the thermostate will work just fine. AS LONG AS THE CAR IS MOVING...

you should reprogram your fans or get a manual fan switch to kick them on sooner... but you dont have too.

BTW, dont you think the 160* is a little too cool?

1. stick with the stock thermostat
2. The 'LS6' pump is the stock replacement part for the LS1 from GM

So it would be a good idea to upgrade to an ls6

That is the current GM stock replacement pump, so you don't have a choice unless you go aftermarket.
