Default Help, open header drive ok or tow?

Hey guys, I need some help, my car is coming out of the shop soon with a new built 370. The old motor was a 347 with long tube headers, the new 370 has stock manifolds. I'm staying with stock manifolds because of my rear mount turbo kit. The shop who did my motor swap does not have the ability to finish my exhaust. I need to have an exhaust shop weld me a couple of bends with the headers flanges to connect them to the already existing turbo Y-pipe.

My problem is the exhaust shop is about a 35 mile drive away from the shop that did my swap. I am not worried about noise pollution or smog, I am however terrified of the possibility of starting a fire due to running open stock manifolds. I have been in and have driven open header LS1 in the past, but it was open long tubes which looks WAY safer than running open headers on stock LS1 manifolds.

Has anyone ever been put in a situation where they had to drive their LS1 on stock open headers? I had to tow my car to the shop it is currently located at and I would hate to have to tow the car again from this shop to the exhaust shop. Any thoughts?

If you're in a position where you can arrange for a tow easily enough, I would do that. After putting all of that money into it...why risk screwing something up?

I wouldnt run just open manifolds. IF you had an extension pipe to take the exaust below the engine bay then i say go for it. If you run open manifolds you are going to start a fire

The 02 sensors are really close to the collector and on an open header the tune can be effected. If you can't put 30" of pipe on it then I would tow it vs drive it.
