Another LS noob
I recently fried two piston rings in my 350Z on the dyno and have decided to go a different route than the VQ. I've decided on the LS2, but have some questions. I'm going to use the car for drag, drift, and daily. The motor needs to be reliable and streetable, but I really want a super fun and fast car. Here are my questions:
1. What are the weakpoints (if any) on the LS2? I've heard rod bolts go bad easily on these motors.
2. Should I be scouring for an LS2 with the L92 heads or just swap to aftermarket heads anyways?
3. I've searched a little bit for cams, and have really come to like the LG cams. I'm not sure what the difference will be between the G5 and G6 though. FWIW, I have an excellent tuner locally who is going to tune the stock ECU for me when all is said and done.
4. Should I even worry about upgrading the throttle body?
5. I'm in AZ, so worrying about the engine temps is huge for me. Should I add the lower temp thermostat or a larger oil pan?
Thanks in advance for your patience and guidance. I'll be anxiously awaiting your thoughts!
there are few ls 350z's running around and right now there around 2 350z builds going on in the swaps forum.
ls2 can make anywhere from 400 to 600 with stock heads, and supporting bolt ons, tune, cam etc.
rod bolts are not a prob for a 6000rpm street engine, usual upgrade is arp rod bolts.
