Hey Greg,

That is a new design that they are using on the Camaro as well as the LSA in the CTS-V. It's a stretch belt that, as you know does not use an idler. I have a tool but I cannot fifure out how to use it LOL.

I just pulled the balancer off with my puller and the belt came off at that point. Re installing the belt is a whole lot of fun also. I get the belt started and then roll the engine with a bar with the spark plugs out. I do this while holding the belt firmly on the balancer so it walks on. It takes a few tries but after having the balancer off this 4 times I am used to it.

Good luck!

Robin

The GM service procedure is to cut the belt off. To reinstall a new belt... place belt completely over balancer on back side. Wrap around ac compressor and roll the belt on the balancer from the BACK SIDE of the balancer. DO NOT by the tool from GM it's a waste of money and not needed.
