Exclamation VVT Install Questions

Three questions:

1) Can VVT be installed along with a DoD?

2) What are all the parts necessary to install a VVT system in a LSX

3) Once installed can it be locked in a certain phase via tune?

Thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure the VVT varies throughout the RPM and load. You would be defeating the VVT if you locked it into a set"phase" as you call it. Just my .02

YES

Things like the phaser, timing cover, PCM, harness, etc

Yes, you can lock it anywhere you want, but that would be giving you less power than the VVT gives you potential for.

Youll need pistons with valve notches too.

Default VVT parts

I have the VVT timing cover, cam gear, cam and water pump from a 2009 6.2 Denali if you are interested.

PM me.

Hmmmm...what if I went Gen IV? Does the LS2/L76 have notched pistons?

Also, does anyone know the total degree range of advance/retard timing for the the VVT system?

The phaser can turn the camshaft over a range of 31 degrees relative to the cam sprocket (or 17 degrees advance, 45 degrees retard relative to the crank).

The phaser does not advance the cam at all, it retards it. The 2007-2008 engines have more range than the 2009+ phasers.

2007-2008s have a range of motion of something like 60+degrees crank (30+ cam) of retard.

2009+ has something like 54 degrees of crank retard.
