Default motown ls engine

i have a motown ls engine, it is a motown block(standard small block) with ls7 heads. it is a hybrid motor put together by world products. it is advertised at 802hp it is a 427cu. right now i have the car in a 09 mullis dragster and it weighs with me in it at 1790. at 800 hp it should be running 7.60's and so far i have only gotten a best of 8.05 out of it. really don't know what to change on it to tune it. we changed the gears in the back from 4.10 to 4.30's but have not run it yet since. i am going through the traps at 7000. with this kind of combo, how much rpm can i wing it too? on this kind of motor what kind of timing makes it run the best. right now the car has 38 degrees of timing and seems really lazy off the line. i have always ran big block stuff, and got this car turn key with this motor and am not familiar with it. any kind of advice would be appreciated! thankyou!

Don't know enough about the motor to confirm or deny the HP ratings. Also not enough info on the cam to be able to tell about what to spin it to, rpm wise.

I have to assume a few things:

-If it makes 802hp, it must have a rather nasty cam..... spin it 7500rpm or until it quite pulling.

-a 427ci LS motor isn't going to make as much torque as say a 540 or 565 BBC, which IMO is most common in S/C dragsters.

-my guess based on the given weight to HP, I'd say the motor makes 760hp.

-for timing, I'd say experiment. Take a few out, run it..... if it slows down, go the other way.

So if you can give us more specific info, then we may can help you a little more. I think the 4.30 gear will help and a bigger converter may help. My 429ci makes peak torque around ~5100 and I use a 5500 converter.

the cam is a .790/.796 comp solid roller cam. peak torque is 651 lb.-ft@5900 and peak horsepower is 802@7000-7200. this info is off a summary of the dyno sheet i found for the motor.

What intake are you using? How long are the runners?
What intake did they use to get that 800hp #?
You rail guys run a converter? I'm not familiar.
How tall are the tires?
Can you post dyno graph?

its probably 802hp at the flywheel so that would roughly put you at roughly 700hp at 15% drivetrain loss
