hey guys ive tried to search for this but after 15 min i couldnt find anything. so the thing im asking here is, what is the hat for that comes on the ls3 intake? does it do anything for performance? a buddy of mine told me that it might get rid of harmonics? ive ran the car at the track and as happy as i am with it, its just not putting down the 1/4 mile numbers that it "should be" so i was thinking, is this hat that i took off hurting me? does it reduce harmonics in the intake? any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks guys

Just a beauty cover and sound deadner, not hurting anything to have it removed.

th fuel rail covers ha the same padding inside them, its just to deaden the valvetrain noise. If anything, its better to remove them because I imagine it holds heat it more

 

i thought this as well when i was doing my build. I am not sure about F-bodies and vettes, but the FRCs on a GTO will not fit unless you take off the beauty cover.
