Default Overcoming a small plenum

I am stuck in the middle right now, I don't really like the L92 Vic Jr, and would prefer the Super Vic but it's not available as we all know with no real date or info on when we might see or hear of one. I understand Cary makes an outstanding manifold and I'm taking nothing away from it, this is a street build and don't want the intake manifold costing more than the rest of the engine

The basic rundown will be a Reg cab truck which should be in the neighborhood of 4000lbs with driver, aluminum block L76 truck engine, which I will be deleting AFM and VVT. The heads will come off and get milled and cleaned up, nothing too serious there. I'm shooting for solid 11s on motor and who knows with the bottle. 4000 converter, built 60E, 4.56s etc.... Like I said it will be driven plenty but I'm not concerned with "manners" persay. The camshaft will be in the 240s with .600"ish lift. Healthy, but not huge. The intake manifold has been my hang-up so far. I've already decided on an Accufab 4bbl throttle body and necessary fuel system.

Has anyone added a carb spacer to a Vic Jr with any success? I would like the bigger plenum, but it's not really available in the price range I'm looking at...... Any ideas?

Simplicity and tuning. This is going in an 01 truck with the Lingenfelter conversion box and will be ran off the 01 PCM and tuned by me with HPT. Just trying to keep it simple

With the truck u should have some room to add. The problem I have is with a gmpp, 4150tb and carb hat is hood clearance issues. Had only enough for a 1/2" zex plate with mod'd the hood. Sure I want plenum. I prefer a 4 bore plate but unfortunately havent seen anything good out yet. The pi intake is on top but right now, i wanna keep the ss hood but if i decide to change heads, cary's ftw.

the intake will not be the thing that holds you back. the area of improvement i see considering your disregard for street manners is that conveter. 4000 out of what i assume is a 10 inch will be a tight for optimal track use.

its a 245mm Circle-D multi disk weve even talked about loosening it up a little more based on cam choice, but with the nitrous being thrown on top I dont want to blow thru it, so the 4000 seemed like the best all around choice.

I've considered a cowl hood and sealing the intake to the hood and having it draw in from the cowl... either way I should have room... just wondering about the benefit from adding a 1" or so spacer... I will have a nitrous plate, but I dont know if that will be enough.

What about the GM intakes P/N 19244034, and 035? I don't know if they have been released yet. They were recommended to me by Flaco for my car. I'm sure they would work on your truck.

My dad built a cammed LS1 with a victor jr for his 72 camaro project. Since he works in an engine shop he had access to an engine dyno. He said he got no significant gain from any spacer up to 2"

Obviously different displacement/heads (and I'm certain his cam is more mild than you will go with) and not sure if it makes a difference or not, but it is carb'd

If you have room to add spacer(s) on top of the intake manifold, this is the easiest way to increase the plenum volume. This has been know to add as much as 40hp to some combinations. This is a cheap experiment with the possiblity of great returns.

I'd put one of the spacers that Nitrous Pro-Flow makes on the car.....

I hear they can add upwards of 300hp depending on the setup.
