How can you check coils?

How can you check coils? I got a set of coils here on the forum some time ago. I have an LS2 engine with an MSD carb control system and I am not getting spark. Is there a way to check if the coils are good? I'm getting 12 volts to the coils during cranking, buy no spark.
you could ohm test them and see if they are in spec for resistance. or if there is a open you would see right away. ohm testing isn't the best way but it will show a obvious open. also you could just swap a old coil over and see if its getting spark that will eliminate that the coils are the problem and its most likely something else..like a problem with your ignition control module..ill think of some other stuff tomarra if no one else chimes in i gotta sleep for the turkey bowl tomarra! happy thanks giving.
