Default ProComp LS3 Head

Has anyone tried or tested a ProComp LS3 style head like these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Proco...item45f79f844a

I was wondering what are their deck thickness and do they flow any better then a stock LS3 head?

There are number of professional head porters that actually use these casting with great success. Dr.J's in CA is one of them.

Thumbs up

Isn't Brodix or another company coming out with an L92/LS3 type head soon?

It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison between the Procomps and these new ones.

A LS7 prototype, not LS3/L92

Yeah, the problem with them is that they need so much work done to them to get them to that level... So even at the price they offer them which is higher than GM's stock LS3's with Hollow stemmed valves. You still have to pay for the Procomps, then have to pay for the head work. So at that point either you buy stock units or go aftermarket.

Comes from the same place the compstar crank and rods come from. Callies does a fine job finishing those. Maybe we'll get lucky and someone over here will do a great job on these as well. The Dr. J Motorsports Procomp LS3 castings look promising. They made more peak power than any of the LS3 heads that used 1.7 rockers in the Hotrod shootout. I'm just a little scared to be the first on the block to get them.

I never commented either way. I just asked as a way to identify them...We'll all see how they perform and hold up.

Those heads on ebay are bare castings. As in no valves or springs. They're still priced nicely though.

It looks like Brodix has two different LS heads now with rectangle ports.

Yelp, but more designed for big bore 4.125+... I talked to Brodix last year before they came out and they gave me the scoop.... Just look at the valve sizes.

2.204 / 1.614
2.350 / 1.880
2.520 / 1.860

They said they designed them for the LS7 427+ 4.125+ bores

It would be like trying to put an LS7 head on a 6.0 or 6.2 etc.....
