Default 418 LS3 top end?

Thunder is building my a 418 stroker and i donno what top end to go with. Ive been searching and searching all last night and still cant decide really.

Motor is going to be a "max effort" oriented N/A setup that i MAY hit with a 150 eventually, so im thinking the cam will be on the larger side, but we havent decided on one yet. I know LS3s cant handle/dont like huge cams.

Ported L92s or AFRs? Fast or Vic Jr/Vic Sr with an accufab on top of it?

Ive got a built T56, will have a McLeod twin disc, and a built 9" w/ a 4.56 gear if supporting mods would matter. Car is for street racing/track racing only

im going to be running the thunder racing stroker v.3 cam with my ls3 418 setup and i should exppect to put down around 575rwhp with trickflow 225s and a fast 90, but if ur going for max effort than id say go with a vic jr and a 4150, also that cam works well with nitrous and i too am planning on hitting it with a 150 shot, bigger cubed motors love a bigger cam, and id def go with a set of afr heads

Default ls3

im in the process off building a 415 stroker with l92 heads and ls3 intake. Im having patrick G spec out a good sized cam because im going to be mostly n/a but want to spray a 150 shot later on. If your on a budget its hard to beat l92 heads i have 400. in the heads and 250 in upgraded springs. 650 total. I took the time to exsaust port them and polish the bowls. My builder did a set like what i did and they only made 7hp less than cnc ported prc heads. just a few options for you.

well when i see the words "max effort" i tend to think max budget as well, either way u cant go wrong with either, but afr heads are the truth! especially with porting work done to them ( if even needed)

Stick to the TFS heads KIDD! You wont regret it if you already have them. But L92's are the best bang for your buck. Just my .02

My 416 made 714 HP with advanced induction 267cc L92 heads and a single plane manifold. I highly recommend a set for your build. If your engine has the bore to support a set of LS7 heads, I would go with that option.

Here is the engine build to give you some ideas:

Max effort NA ,equals max $$$ What is your budget? The after market heads all have better castings, and more potental then the GM castings.

I would look at the Mast heads and their intake for a NA build. I would loose the T56 and look at a 4 speed manual. If switching to an auto then a glide is the choice.

What are your power ,ET, and or class goals.
