Default I have a check engine light but code reader connector has no power

scratchin my head on this one:
I have a check engine light (service engine soon) and when I plug in my code reader to connector under the dash it does not work, tried it on another vehicles and it works fine is there a fuse somewhere for this connector or another place to plug a reader in?

Check out your lighter fuse. Thats usally is on the same sercuit as the connecter for the scan tool.....
