FTP 104mm lid,which air filter to use?

Default FTP 104mm lid,which air filter to use?

Just got a FTP 104mm lid for my ls3 418, ive used a stock air filter before but dont know whether to get another one or go with a Holley or SLP air filter. I heard you have to oil them which can ruin the MAF and if you forget to oil it, it will let dirt into the motor.... any opinions??? thanks

Just get the K&N and only oil the bottom side. Of course it comes pre-oiled from the get go anyways. If you are worried about it screwing with the maf just get some maf cleaner and keep it on hand. The problem with these filters is if they become over oiled it will mist onto the sensors of the maf that is how it screws with it. So only oil the bottom side and you'll be good.

Im pretty sure there was a discussion on this not too long ago, and someone said that the stock paper filter does not provide any restriction at all. So if your worried then just run an ac delco paper filter.

Gm hightech tested this on a dyno, and they lost hp by taking out the paper filter and running no filter.

So save your engine and just run a paper filter.

At my shop they have the regular paper filter and K&N filter display stand. Its a machine that blows air through the filters to see which flows better. This right here, http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=87-1124-3

Obviously K&N designed it to promote their product but regardless, when you put the paper air filter in the ball drops but when the K&N filter is in the ball floats from more air; it has me convinced.

Who knows what kind of paper it is and its density??? How does it compare to a GM or Purolator or WIX air filter for your car??? What density is the paper that they use????? I use a wix or purolator. Even if I had a clear lid, I would still use a wix.

Idk why don't you call K&N and find out since your so worried about it. My car dyno'ed higher and ran faster at the track with the K&N air filter vice a Wix air filter both on same days nothing else changed.. what's your argument now?

Seriously??? I don't need to call anyone. I could call someone that gives a ****...if there was. I couldn't give 2 ***** about K&N's snake oil product. You love it, that's all that matters and it warms the cockles of my heart.
