Oil Level sensor question

Oil Level sensor question I'm fitting an LS3 into a cobra replica and I'm trying to make use of the low oil level sensor built into the sump.
I'm assuming the sensor goes to ground when the oil level is low, is this right ?
Mine seems to be grounded with the correct level of oil but I don't know whether the sensor is faulty or it's my understanding and hence the way I've wired it up.
