Default ls3 lifter valley cover clearance problem

Ok so on the back of the motor the lifter Vally plate hangs over the back of the block by about 1/8". The reduction unit I use on my airboat hits it. Anyone see a problem in cutting it back flush with the block?

There should be no problem as long as you don't interfere with the robber part of the seal mating surface.
If you are using the factory type intake manifold, look for intake to valley cover bolts interference before you tighten the intake manifold bolts.
