How to measure Valve Relief Depth
How to measure Valve Relief Depth I'm sorry if this is common knowledge but I have searched here and googled and cant seem to find the correct way to measure the actual depth of the valve relief. I am cutting my own reliefs. I set to about .065 but they are definitely not that deep yet. I didn't take into account the thickness of the tape or the sandpaper etc. I want to actually measure the relief depth, what tool can I use to do this? My calipers don't fit in the bottom of the relief for an accurate measurement, I get about .03 using them but it is not accurate.
Another question....is .085 valve clearance good enough for exhaust? I will have about that without flycutting, my intake P2V clearance should be around .12 after reliefs are finished.

I use feeler gauges. It's not scientific, but I set my cutter at .080" using a couple of feeler gauges stacked, then I slid them into the valve pocket and once it's flush I call it. However, I could be off upto .010" with this method. So that eBay gauge probably would work better.
