Default Optimum exhaust size for Stock L92

I am planning my system right now and have a completely stock L92, with truck intake. I will be running LS3 camaro exhaust manifolds, and I am trying to identify what I need to change about my existing exhaust setup to get optimum performance (without headers, and on a stock L92).

I currently have dual 2.5" into mufflers, then 2" from mufflers out back over the axle. I dont have an H or X.

What must I change, if anything, to get the most from this engine?
Thanks

X pipe would help performance a little but that money might be better spent on a different upgrade. The exhaust you have shouldn't be much of a restriction for a street car. In my opinion an X pipe does have a better sound to it.

Thanks for chiming in. I'll keep digging to see what I can find.

The exhaust you have will work fine since you don't have any specific performance goals..ET or RWHP/TQ. However if it were me and leaving the engine stock was the plan I'd run mandrel bent 2.5" pipes into a decent Y collector (Flowmaster or merge-type) and run a single 3" Magnaflow or Dynatech muffler with single 3" up and out the back. Mid-range torque and mi/gal efficiency will be enhanced. Most people, especially with an older muscle car era ride, feel that duals out the back is the most cosmetically appealing or best sounding.

2" headers and 3" duals is probably the best cheap way to go, without fancy stepped headers or other pricy tricks. Let it breathe

I think the 2.5's are good, especially if you already have them. The money to replace that is probably better spent elsewhere, especially considering you have stock exhaust manifolds.

The 2" pipes after the mufflers are not killer, however, I'd feel a lot better about bringing the size down after an x-pipe. From what I understand, you can run slightly smaller pipes after the x-pipe and not loose performance.

So, since I currently have 2.5 to the mufflers then 2" tails, I should either switch to 2.5" tails, or put in an x pipe?

I guess what I want to know is if the 2" talks will be a restriction, or if the fact that I have stock exhaust manifolds and a completely stock engine (403hp), means that I am not giving anything up by having the 2" tail pipes. I dont want to put new tailpipes on for no reason, especially if performance is not gained.
Thoughts?
