Default LS376/525 Modifications?

Hey all! For starters this is a great forum from what I've seen with a lot of very knowledgeable people. Anyways I've bought an LS376/525 which is my first LS motor and it's going into my 69 Chevy nova that I've had for a few years now with a T-56 and 3.73s in the rear. Well before I throw it in I figured I'd see what I can do to it while I still have the room to. I already have long tube heads and I will be getting it dyno tuned afterwards. So besides a decent CAI what else can be done? Fast 102 with matching TB maybe? Do all the typical LS3 mods apply to the LS376?

Really appreciate it guys

Yes the typical LS3 mods will apply. The camshaft in your motor is 226/236@ .050" so it is a kind of a middle of the road cam. Not small but not big either. From what I have read the Fast intake manifold does not give much improvement over the stock one. You would be better off for the money getting the stock one ported.

You can get the heads CNC ported for maybe 15-20hp. The headers will give you around 35hp or so. With the usual upgrades you can get close to 600hp out of the motor. That would probably mean upgrading the cam to one a little larger. It just depends on what you are looking for.

480 to 500rwhp is a lot for the street. You would need a lot of rubber on the rear to transfer the power to the road.

Wow, I really appreciate that info GTA. I actually have 305/35/18s on it now that give me just about 12" of tread. So it sounds like with CNC ported heads, a stock ported intake and a bigger cam along with the long tubes I have now and a new tune I'll be sitting pretty well.

If you want the most out of it, the biggest headers that will fit with a X or H pipe with bullrt style mufflers dumped at the rear, have the intake ported, have the heads ported and milled to achieve the highest compression that your fuel will allow, get a bigger custom cam spec'd for the heads and entire setup and a properly matched valve train that can handle the lift on the cam. That would get you where you want to be. For the cam, get with eifher Martin Smallwood at Tick Performance or Ed Curtis at Flowtech Induction.
