honest opinion Whats up guys. Just looking to feed off you guys experience/opinions. Im building a weekend pro touring based car. Im leaning towards a tall deck lsx 440+ pump gas with a power goal of 700+ pump gas. Im torn between tall deck lsx or sb2.2. I know the sb2.2 is more of an exotic build and high maintenance, but they both seem to cost about same. Or not? Power seems comparable. So what do you guys think?

I had the exact same question and went back and forth for a year. I decided to build an LS7 for several reasons. In no particular order: aluminum block, weight reduction, crank and cam sensor ready for sequential EFI, good selection of cams and heads, better gaskets/sealing, lots of user experience available on the web, off the shelf headers from many vendors. I just pulled my short block off of the shipping pallet and it is amazing how much lighter it is than an iron SBC. If you want to source an SB2 I would speak with M&M Competition Engines in Indianapolis. Also, big cubic inch SB2 means ultra high compression due to its 45 cc heads.
