yea, I want to shift at 7500...even with shifting at 7000 I won't dip below 5,000 after the shift. I think the high hp runners will be just the ticket. Still wanna see more comparisons and see some results from the Edelbrock Cross ram.

Here we are in the first week of June. I would think Vararam should have a pretty good idea at this point in time of a release date. Maybe I will go ahead and send them another email asking for an update.

^^^Don't hold your breath, since they were promising a new style cold air system for our cars since 2001.

Have YOU seen it?? I certainly have not.

They used the reasoning that they just kept 'leapfrogging' EVERY other single new applications' systems OVER ours, and NEVER delivered.

Here is the latest email I just received from Vararam.

"Allen , We are currently having 8up ( 8 runners at a time) tolling jigs made for the final plastic CNC cleanup processes on all of the manifolds to cut production time . This is needed to hold our price target for each of the manifolds and to hold the tightest tolerance levels possible on a composite Polymer manifold.

What is out there now in the aftermarket is not even close to the OEM manifolds tolerance levels. we are looking to exceed the OEM's quality level by substantial margins. "

Wow..over 2 years since the initial post and they are now having jigs made and worrying about the OEM quality level.

I give them a lot of credit for sticking to their guns! Considering you can now buy a FAST intake for $600-$700 used, I hope they outperform everything on the market by large numbers!

Default Update

I spoke with Patrick today and he has over 800 units on hand going through final 2 changes. 1. Using new process to insert metal threaded inserts to mate pieces together. 2. CNC machining ports for perfect alignment as 1989GTA told us in his post above.

LS1-2-6, LS3 and LS7 all available together before SEMA this year.

One version of cathedral port.

3 versions of both LS3 and LS7.

Race versions for LS3 and LS7 8k rpm

The standard version of each will fit under hood of C5 and C6 Corvettes.

Patrick has been developing COPO manifolds for GM and finishing manifolds for all LS port designs while working through the challenges...so although the process has taken a long time he's been steadily working to get this finished and end up with the best product. We should be seeing marketing releases in 6-8 weeks or so as there are a number of units being tested now....some at Milford.

I am really jazzed up now. I have an LS3 based 427 motor that could probably utilize a 104mm throttle body. I guess I will have to wait and see what the dyno tests show. Maybe the Nelson drive by wire unit? I do have a 95mm BBK throttle body I could use.

The motor makes peak power around 6500rpm and I am shifting at 6800rpm. So the runner length will be a factor. Just thinking out loud. Hehehe

Here is a post from the Corvette forum straight from Vararam. SEMA is from Nov. 1 to Nov. 4. So it looks like sometime in late October for the initial release.

"Yes, we have components in house that are going through final phases of pre-production for assembly for some versions of our new manifolds . We are pushing to show them to the public just before SEMA . We will not be specific untill they are released , we have given our competition information each time we have tested or shown images in the past .We will not be doing that again untill they roll out to the public .
We also want to have product on the shelf to ship before we release pics, video, independent tests etc.. rather than tease our customers with something they cannot buy yet.

They've been teasing for over 2 years ? maybe even 3...4 ?

Have they mentioned how it will hold up to boost for those who may be interested ?

Well, to be fair, after they released that initial youtube video, they haven't posted anything more about it, other than when they've been pushed to respond, and they've been reserved with giving time estimates.

I am still waiting to see if this is something that can fit in an f-body.

If it fits the C5 I'm sure it will fit an F-body.

Exactly....

For me, the MSD just didn't do what I thought it would do. So I wait and pray for this thing to impress, all while hoping it will fit in an F-Body.
