5.3l used engine oil pressure issue I just installed a used engine in a 2007 Yukon it's a 5.3l engine.. Sounds great runs and drives fine. While driving the truck with in terminating lose oil pressure from 45-55 to 0-5psi both with the gauge or scan data. The engine still runs fine after it drops to 0-5 psi. So I pulled the intake and installed a new sensor, it still has the same problem.. Any suggestions?
Did you install an oil pan and pick-up tube when you did the swap or did you use the one that came on the replacement engine? If you replaced it, It would make me wonder if there is a problem with the O-ring or pick-up tube/position.
There is a little screen underneath of where the oil pressure sending unit s rews in that gets gummed up and will restrict/cutoff flow to the sending unit. Remove the sending unit and use a litfle pick or similar fo pull it up and out of there.
Bad thing is that isnt always the issue either. Ive got a 07 5.3l burban that i replaced all of the lifters in it in april because it had one of the dod lifters go out on it and it just came back to me with a miss and oil pressure problems again. It was doing exactly what you described before replacement.
