clearance issues....uhoh!!

Default clearance issues....uhoh!!

I'm having clearance issue with this Gen IV 6.0L motor and the Gen III 5.3L heads. Heads are untouched as far as milling goes. When the heads are set in place the motor turns fine. (No rockers attached) when I put the head bolts in, and run up by hand til they quit turning, the motor won't turn. Acts like the piston is hitting the head. Not a cool situation to have. Any suggestions? Or any experience with this? Any experience with a new Gen swap to replace a Gen III motor?

Are the headgaskets on when you do this? If so, what headgaskets are they?

Yeah they're on. They're stock height felpro gaskets.

Stock for what engine? The 5.3L gasket will be an issue if that's what you're using.

Stock 5.3l I had the gaskets checked onand they all "checked to be the same" 5.3, 6.0, etc. I was going to put some 6.0 gaskets and see what she does.

Take the head off and look to see if the head gasket bore is smaller than the cylinder bore.

He had another thread going with the same question and my answer almost mirrors yours, I also think it's the 5.3 gasket on the 6.0 bore that's causing the issue.

As soon as I get home on the 14th I'm gonna check that. Never thought of that. I've buit a 6.0 before and never had this issue.
