Backfire Hey guys - maddening issue, looking for any help. I've got a SC LS2 with 4L65e tranny. About two months ago, I ran the car in the autocross event in Nashville (Run to Music City). About mid-event, the car picked up a 'backfire' generally just when the car was cold - issue went away almost as quickly as it appeared (drove back to ATL with no issues). Fast forward to now - drove the car 80mph from Atlanta to Biloxi for Cruising the Coast - no sooner do I arrive, fill the car up with gas and park - the backfire is back, and worse than ever. Ended up stranded, and on a trailer. Car was throwing codes for coil packs on 5 out of 8 cylinders - found a section of wires headed down to the tranny/O2 sensors burnt by the headers. Repaired all of the visibly damaged wires. I have now replaced the O2 sensors, checked spark at all coil packs, checked plugs (which were lean if anything), and all connections. Even confirmed MAF was clean, and visually inspected all vacuum ports/lines. Now the car will idle and rev just fine (where it initially was misfiring), but goes to absolute poop the moment it's put in drive. Thoughts, suggestions?!
