I have a question about different driver side valve cover setups. On truck applications Pre-2003 I usually see the standard PCV valve inserted directly into the driver side valve cover. On my 2004 engine I read that they moved to a "Non-Serviceable Fixed Orifice" PCV design that is built directly into the valve cover. While routing my catch can lines this threw me off because I was expecting to see a valve in the D/S cover. With having this newer design cover does this eliminate my need to put a PCV valve in line to my catch can since the valve cover is supposed to serve as one? I am familiar with the routing of the can and have read almost every thread on the proper way to install the can, I am just curious about this redesigned valve cover and what everyone is doing. Thanks.
The engine in question is a mid-year 2004 LQ9

My intentions were to run my system as follows:
Instead of putting the PCV valve in line to the can , I thought mine was installed in the cover. Now that I see it is not, should I run a valve inline to the can still?
