Default MAF size after changing intakes

So here is my current setup in my 2002 Trans Am:

LS6 block, mild nitrous cam, 243 heads, LS6 intake, stock injectors, ported LS1 tb, stock LS1 MAF, SLP lid, 1 3/4" LT's, fully forged internals, p/s delete, a/c delete, front o2 delete, AIR delete, NX wet kit

My new setup will be:

LS6 block, custom grind nitrous cam (much bigger), 225cc heads machined and milled, Fast 102 intake, PTM 102mm TB, 42 lb injectors, LS3 fuel rails, 2" LT's, etc...

My question is what size MAF will I need to run and do I need to lose the SLP lid and just route it with a filter on it or buy and adapter to go from the 102 TB to the MAF I have now?

I'd go with a 4" MAF housing on that setup. You have the 102 intake and 102 TB, no sense in doing all that if you're going to neck down to the stock 78mm MAF.

At least do the 85mm Z06 MAF if anything, but you're better off just going full 4" at this point.

4" MAF? So I would need to ditch the lid too since it can't fit the bigger MAF and just put a filter on it?

You don't need to get rid of the lid, you can put a small coupler inline with the lid and then TB on either end of the MAF.

Kinda like this. It's a 4" spectre MAF housing and LS7 MAF along with 4" tubes and intake.

Looks easy enough. Thanks a lot. I can ebay that stuff. I think I'll need an adapter harness from 5 to 3 too correct?

I'm probably gonna ruffle some feathers here but I'll say stick with a maf. You can do a diy 100mm maf setup for about 100 bucks. SD and a properly sized maf wont make any difference in hp. Personally I like the fact that maf can make up for small air changes whereas the ve is limited to pressure vs rpm.

If you have a BIG CAM or nasty blower setup the sd tune would make more sense because after a certain point it will be easier to tune the driveability problems out of it. but since you dont have either of those cases, no reason to not stick with a maf other than it maybe going bad, but thats nill.

Is that a spectre 9705 maf housing?

No idea what you mean.

MAF is completely unneeded.

Heck, you do not even need that. Just get this and stick it anywhere in line:

tell me where you would put that in a stock intake tract? you still need a piece of metal tubing to mount it securley at which point just get the spectre..... btw that thing costs 20 bucks and the spectre piece is 24 on amazon.....

Great! I was gonna go with an 85mm GM MAF but after doing some searching I think this is a much better setup. I ordered the LS3/LS7 MAF 15865791 & this adapter harness: I will get the tube & couplers to connect it to my 92 mm TB.
