Default Realistic HP expectations

Ls2 bottom with gm performance ls3 heads, ls9 head gaskets, ls3 intake, nick Williams 92 mm TB,big cam, medium headers into 3 inch unbaffled sidepipes , and a muncie 4 speed tranny. My car has been in a shop getting some work done and I want a idea what kind of horsepower it should have because something was wrong and it started at about 240. It seems after researching it should be over 400??? Thanks

Compression Ratio and complete cam specs is required info to make anything beyond a SWAG .

Also.....gonna assume the heads are completely stock......yes?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, with a good tune.....440-450 HP at the wheels.

Default Update! !

It made 405 to the wheels. The tuner said my compression is low due to head gaskets being to thick. Not why since they are ls9 gaskets and are supposed to be the same thickness as ls2 gaskets. The compression maybe lower then a ls2 due to the heads being larger chamber then the ls2 heads. He said I would pick up 25 hp with the correct compression. Could I or should I mill my heads to get the same compression as a ls2. My pistons do have reliefs in them but I didn't check valve clearence. Thanks for all the help!!

So it is 10.8 compression ratio right? If so, that's not bad for a cr. Im at 10.9 with my g8. It's pretty much a ls2 with ls3 topend. Just my pistons don't have reliefs in them. I milled my heads to get to the 10.9 cr. Stock mine was 10.4 I would either mill the heads. or you can just put on some thinner cometic head gaskets and get your cr back up. That cai is going to kill you with heatsoak. How come you went with a 115lsa?

The cam is a blower cam so I can upgrade to a supercharger in the future. I was told that it would work fine Na until I upgrade.

Gotcha. Well I would just do thinner head gaskets for now, then when you do go blower, all you would have to do is change the gaskets, I wouldn't mill the heads if you plan on the blower.

To be honest I would leave it alone. That is a decent amount of work for just 25hp. When later you would want to change it back to put the blower on. I would just drive and enjoy the car. Then install the supercharger and have more fun.

blower cam will really allow big flow , at this point it probably just hurts gas mileage

Stock LS3 heads are 68.5 cc's so you'll be around 10.7:1 compression ratio with your set up. I'd say 550-575 hp at the crank or 460-485 hp at the wheels. It looks like a very nice project. Good luck with your build.
