Default Best ls3 cam for midrange power

I'm looking for recommendations on cam specs that will maximize power under the curve, specifically in the vicinity of 4000-5500 RPM. The engine is a LS3 motor with stock internals, a ported ls3 manifold, short ram intake, either factory headers with a single high flow cat per bank or 1 3/4 inch long tubes feeding a 3 inch straight exhaust.

The car is used for road course racing so I find myself in that RPM range a lot. I'm less concerned with peak horsepower gains. Let me know what you think! thanks!

I personally like my 231/243 .617/.624 113+2 in my ls3 5th gen makes LOADS of midrange torque.

Alot of other people who do roar racing seem to like the Katech LS3 Torquer cam since it was designed by katech specifically for that purpose.

I'll take a look at the torquer cam, I'm also looking at a BTR cam as well. Do you have a dyno chart for car by chance?

I'm a surprised you're interested in such a small power band for road racing. I've been looking for similar cams for awhile but have been looking for 3000-6000'ish. For off the shelf cams, I'm partial to these for a wide power band, in this order:

Lingenfelter GT11
Crane Cams 2019381
Tick TorqueMax Stg2
Katech Torquer 3

A couple of links:

LG Motorsports has their G6 series cams also. Or, you could contact Ed Curtis, Kip @ CamMotion, Martin @ Tick, Patrick Guerra, etc, to ask about a custom cam

Does this car have a manual transmisson? Also, what is the likelyhood it will get the headers?

I would suggest the
rcr 219 / 232. .625. .599. 109lsa thumper cam.
Hp peaks at 5600. Mid range pull is crazy.

I have a 229/244 cam in my car. Really strong midrange power. Sounds great to boot.

Give Geoff at EPS a call. You don't have to have a big cam with a ls3.

If you are willing to send me the following I can make recommendation:

1. max shift RPM
2. trans gear ratios to define RPM drop on gear changes
3. total intake track length with you custom manifold

PM me if you're interested.

Thanks,

Aaron

look into a cam that's easy on your valve train. I'm on my second LXL lobe cam, first one was 230/234 112+4 in my LS6 and this year I ran a 226/238 LXL lobe in my ls3
